MVMA meets once per month, typically on the last Friday of the month. We do not meet in December and our Annual Conference replaces our regular monthly meeting in March. Meetings begin at 11:30 a.m. and close at 1 p.m. In addition to a wonderful lunch, MVMA meetings involve networking before, after – and sometimes during – each meeting and great information on topics chosen by the Program Committee. As MVMA is a member-driven organization, the Program Committee pays close attention to member feedback and requests when selecting meeting topics, formats and speakers. Members and guests who attend meetings have the opportunity to provide feedback regarding all aspects of the meeting. An annual survey is conducted with members to determine which meeting topics are selected for the following membership year. Monthly meetings primarily consist of two parts: networking and education. Meetings offer members the opportunity to meet and talk with other individuals from the field of volunteer management and share a great lunch – a different caterer is selected each month. Each meeting also consists of an educational session with a speaker, small group session or panel where members have the opportunity to learn more about a specific topic in the field of volunteer management.
Members who are not pre-paid for the year and first-time guests must pay a $15 meeting fee. Guests can only attend one time before they must make a decision to become a member. There is an additional $5 fee for walk-ins and those who register after the RSVP deadline. Upcoming meeting information is displayed on the homepage of the website and e-mailed to active members prior to each meeting.
