Membership Application

Membership in MVMA means that you are a part of highly dedicated, highly professional group of volunteer managers spanning the St. Louis metro area. There are many wonderful privileges and responsibilities that accompany MVMA membership. MVMA members network at monthly meetings, receive education and advice from subject matter experts, serve on planning committees and the MVMA Board of Directors, and share their wisdom and experiences. MVMA has contributed to the success of hundreds of volunteer programs since its inception in 1962 and continues to play a key role in the expansion and improvement of the strongest volunteer programs in the St. Louis metro area.

Why Join?

Professional Development — Exceptional monthly educational meetings with relevant program topics such as how to appreciate your volunteers, recruiting and training volunteers, training tips, how to love your troubled volunteers, risk management, diversity issues and best practices.

Membership Directory — Members may access the directory of all members; this directory can be used to network and seek and/or provide guidance to fellow members.

Networking Opportunities and Professional Support — Staying connected with others in the field of volunteer management is a necessary part of success for any volunteer program. MVMA’s monthly meetings, committees, the Board of Directors and annual conference provide members with regular opportunities to reach out to others in their field.

Leadership Training Opportunities — MVMA offers many opportunities for quality leadership development and professional growth that can be implemented in the workplace. Types of leadership range from opportunities to serve MVMA on the Board of Directors or a planning committee to expert advice on leading groups of 50 to more than 200 volunteers of varying backgrounds.

Newsletter — The monthly newsletter helps members to stay on top of developments in their field, provides resources to assist members in their jobs and provides access to job postings. MVMA works diligently to ensure that our newsletters are informative, engaging, accurate and insightful for the benefit of our membership.

MVMA ‘Members Only’ Website — MVMA members not only have access to a comprehensive, easy to use website, but can also access the password protected portion of the website. This section contains a discussion board for members and enables members to access useful contacts and tips with a few clicks of their computer mouse.

Annual Conference — MVMA hosts an annual Volunteer Manager’s Conference held in metropolitan St. Louis. The conference features well-known speakers and small group leaders with a wealth of information to share with attendees. Members receive a discounted registration fee for the conference and have the opportunity to provide input regarding topics covered at the conference. The 2010 conference will take place on Friday, March 26 at the Holiday Inn in downtown St. Louis.

Investment

MVMA membership is an investment in your career, your agency’s volunteer program and your future. Annual membership is $50 and $15 for each monthly meeting that you attend or $185 for annual membership and one year of pre-paid meeting fees. Members also receive a reduced fee for the annual conference.

How Can I “Try It Before I Buy It?”

We are confident that you will benefit greatly from being a part of MVMA. Potential members who wish to come to a monthly meeting may do so as a guest of a current MVMA member one time per calendar year at a cost of $15. Subsequent meetings will require membership in MVMA. If you do not know a current MVMA member but would like to attend a meeting one time as a guest, please Contact Us to make this request and we will be happy to accommodate you.
