Volunteer management always calls upon our ability to support our volunteers, but this skill is especially necessary when volunteers encounter challenging circumstances. Whether the situation is specific to the volunteer’s personal life or to the nature of the volunteer service they provide, being able to respond appropriately and provide support is an essential skill of volunteer leadership. In this presentation, we’ll explore best practices for supporting volunteers through challenging circumstances, from personal struggles such as a health diagnosis, to challenges related to their volunteering, such as the death of a client or situations involving secondary trauma. The better able you are to support your volunteers, the stronger your volunteer program will be, so please join us for this informative and interactive presentation, led by an experienced volunteer director and hospice bereavement specialist.

Speaker: Dr. Julie Strassman, Manager of Support Services for Bethesda Hospice Care

Dr. Julie Strassman is the Manager of Support Services for Bethesda Hospice Care, overseeing the programs for volunteer support, spiritual care, bereavement care, and veterans’ services.
